Launch of the second short national reports (Article 21)

This session provides insights and lessons learned from the 2021 full reports, sets out the main steps to prepare for submitting the second short reports due by 31 December 2023, and outlines the updates made to the Online Reporting Tool to support Parties. 

As recalled in the letter from the Executive Secretary of 13 March, the Party’s designed National Focal Point is responsible for submitting the national report under Article 17. Parties are invited to ensure that the information on the designated National Focal Point is up to date by 27 March 2023 to ensure the Secretariat can expedite the issuance of personalised access credentials for the Online Reporting Tool. 

MO3 reporting

The second short national reports pursuant to Article 21 of the Minamata Convention are due by 31 December 2023. These reports cover the reporting period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022. 

Parties are invited to begin their preparations for the second short reports, including to access the Online Reporting Tool. 

As per Decision MC-1/8, the full reporting format comprises five parts, and 43 questions. For the short reports, Parties are to respond to the four questions marked by an asterisk in the format in Part B.
