InforMEA, a project established under the Multilateral Environmental Agreements Information and Knowledge Management Initiative, now features an online introductory course on the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The course provides information on the environmental challenges posed by mercury pollution, highlights the urgency of effective global action and gives an overview of the Convention’s key operational articles.
As part of the ongoing efforts for building national capacity, UN Environment and UNITAR collaborate on an online training platform: MercuryLearn (currently in English and Spanish). The main component of the platform is the UNEP Toolkit for Identification and Quantification of Mercury Releases, which provides interactive modules to assist in the development of mercury inventories. The platform also provides links to awareness-raising materials and other tools.
